Young cousins slain by uncle over 'honour'

Suspected robber kills accomplice, gets caught after falling off bike

In a tragic incident a young man and his cousin were shot dead by their uncle over allegations of illicit relations in Miranpur area of Ghotki district on Monday.

The police informed that they came to know through family sources of the slain individuals that their uncle was among the assailants who have escaped after killing Sajan Sundrani and Saleema Sundrani. The incident's FIR could not be lodged by Monday evening.

As many as 101 men and women were killed in the name of honour across Sindh between January and June 2024, according to figures released by the Sindh Suhai Organisation, a social and women rights body.

It expressed concern over the increasing incidents of violence against women, including murder and sexual harassment, in province.

The figures show that most honour killings took place in Jacobabad district, where 22 women and 12 men were murdered in the name of honour during the six months of the current year.

Karma makes killer confess

It was as if karma was at work when two robbers got into argument over the loot and one shot the other, but just as he was escaping he fell of the bike and was rescued by the police, but confessed to his crimes in hospital.

A suspected robber was allegedly shot dead by his associate in Jamshoro district on Monday. However, the assailant was later injured in an accident minutes before being arrested.

Jamshoro police station duty officer informed that they found a critically injured person, 35 years old Nazeer Buledi, on Jamshoro flyover.

Not knowing who he was, police hauled him in the mobile and rushed to hospital, but he died on the way to hospital.

Meanwhile, another police patrol stumbled upon an injured person who had fallen off a motorcycle.

The cops picked him up but found a pistol and substantial amount of cash on him. Once in the hospital, the cops asked him few questions on which, Qadir Bux Brohi broke down in tears and narrated his ill deeds.

Police claimed that Brohi confessed in the initial interrogation that he had killed Buledi who was his partner in several robberies. A pistol and allegedly looted cash was found from possession of Brohi who was shifted to Liaquat University Hospital for further treatmnent.
