Woman assaulted by husband

She states that instead of taking action, women police started pressing for reconciliation.

A man assaulted his wife and injured her over a domestic dispute on Monday while, instead of registering a case, the police of women police station forced the husband and wife to reconcile.

After the incident went viral on social media, the CPO took notice and registered a case and formed teams headed by SP Lyallpur Town to arrest the accused.

Sana Bibi, a resident of Quaid-e-Azam Park area of Mansoorabad police station, stated that she and her sister were married in the same house.

She added that "my elder sister Rabia had no children due to which she used to quarrel with her husband.

Because of this, she divorced her husband Atiq and my husband Abid Rehman started insulting and abusing me often."

She further stated that, her husband severely tortured her due to which she was admitted to the hospital.

She states that instead of taking action, women police started pressing for reconciliation.

After the matter went viral on social media, City Police Officer DIG, Kamran Adil took notice of the incident of brutal violence by the husband and ordered action by seeking a detailed report of the incident from SP Lyallpur Town and said that violence against women and children will not be tolerated in any case.

Meanwhile, a rickshaw driver died after his shawl got entangled in the chain of his rickshaw on Sattiana Road.

Ramzan, a resident of Sattiana Road, was loading bricks onto his rickshaw when the incident occurred, resulting in his death at the scene.

Police handed over the body to the family following necessary legal procedures.
