Police roll out traffic plan for IDEAS 2024
The security around Expo Centre has been beefed up in view of the upcoming IDEAS 2024 exhibition, scheduled from November 19 to 22 at the Expo Centre.
While the Sindh government has deployed security personnel in and around the Expo Centre, the police have also finalised the traffic plan and announced the alternate routes for all vehicular traffic during the exhibition days.
According to the traffic police, temporary road closures will be in effect from 7am to 7pm during the exhibition days. Stadium Flyover to Hassan Square and both the flyovers from Hassan Square Flyover to National Stadium will be closed for traffic during the specified hours. Stadium Road to the left of Aga Khan Hospital, Hassan Square (Sir Shah Sulaiman Road) will be closed for traffic. Traffic from Dalmia to Stadium Signal heading towards Hassan Square will not be allowed. Similarly, the traffic from University Road, NIPA, heading left towards Stadium via Expo Centre will remain closed. Alternative routes for heavy traffic, filtering, and diversions have also been identified. Heavy, commercial, and water tanker traffic will not be allowed to entre Karsaz from Sharea Faisal, instead, they may use the route via Drigh Road. Entry of heavy traffic and commercial vehicles from Millennium Mall to Stadium Road will also be prohibited. Meanwhile, such vehicles can take routes from NIPA to Askari IV, Drigh Road to Sharea Faisal or from Millennium Mall to NIPA chowrangi.
Heavy and commercial vehicles will not be permitted from NIPA to Hassan Square. However, they may use alternate routes from NIPA to Gulshan Chowrangi, Sohrab Goth, or from NIPA to Millennium Mall via Drigh Road. Entrance of heavy traffic from Jail Chowrangi to Hassan Square will also be prohibited, but drivers can use routes from Jail Chowrangi to Shaheed-e-Millat Road or Teen Hatti.
