Lili Reinhart, widely known for her role in Riverdale, is shedding light on the emotional struggles of living with acne as a public figure. Speaking exclusively to PEOPLE at the launch event for her new skincare line, Personal Day, in West Hollywood on November 12, Reinhart described her experiences with acne as “isolating” and “shameful” during her early career.

“Not a lot of celebrities have acne,” the 28-year-old actress revealed. “I felt like I needed to hide.”

Reinhart explained that her ongoing challenges with adult acne brought back memories of adolescence, which she described as a particularly difficult period.

“Acne is a very triggering thing for me. It brings me back to being 13, feeling out of control. I just wanted to control what my face looked like for once.”

The Hustlers star shared how these experiences ultimately led her to co-found Personal Day, a skincare line aimed at providing effective, trustworthy acne care products made without harmful ingredients.

“There wasn’t a full line of acne care products I could trust,” said Reinhart, who has tried Accutane twice in her journey to manage her skin concerns.

Reinhart emphasized that Personal Day is designed to help individuals heal their skin rather than “fix” it, as acne often requires long-term management.

“Telling people to ‘fix’ something they can’t fully control is isolating. We want to create a space where people feel supported, not judged.”

The skincare brand, co-founded with Shelagh Wong, enlisted top experts in the beauty industry, including Reinhart’s aesthetician Sarah Ford and a mental health specialist, to ensure the products address both physical and emotional aspects of acne.

Reinhart hopes that her brand and openness will encourage more conversations about acne, especially among teens and young adults, who often feel stigmatized.

“When I was a teenager, no celebrities were talking about acne. I want to change that.”

Personal Day features luxury ingredients aimed at improving skin over time, with the promise that consistent use enhances results. Reinhart’s initiative not only offers solutions for acne care but also fosters a supportive community for those navigating similar challenges.
