BLACKPINK’s Lisa has made history as the first K-pop star to grace the cover of Vanity Fair’s prestigious Hollywood Issue.
The 2025 edition features Lisa alongside Hollywood legends such as Nicole Kidman, Zendaya, Bill Skarsgard, Zoe Saldana, Jonathan Bailey, Dev Patel, Sydney Sweeney, and Glen Powell.
Titled 'The 2025 Hollywood Issue: Zendaya, Nicole Kidman, and 10 More Modern Icons,' the magazine highlights Lisa as a "K-pop sensation" stepping into the Hollywood spotlight with her upcoming role in 'The White Lotus.'
While fans celebrated Lisa’s groundbreaking appearance, the cover sparked mixed reactions on social media. Critics questioned her inclusion alongside acting greats, given her lack of acting credits.
Addressing the controversy, Vanity Fair’s editor-in-chief Radhika Jones defended the choice, calling Lisa “an exemplary feature.”
Speaking on 'CBS Morning Plus,' Jones explained, “It has always been interesting for us. So to take someone like Lisa, who is a huge star in the K-pop world, less well-known in Hollywood or with a Hollywood audience. But she is going to be on 'The White Lotus' in the new season."
Jones further highlighted that Lisa’s addition to the Hollywood Issue signifies her evolving presence in the entertainment industry.
The editor also praised Nicole Kidman, emphasizing her bold choices and risk-taking nature: “There is no bigger star right now than Nicole Kidman. She is everywhere, and her work is incredible."
Vanity Fair echoed similar sentiments on their social media, writing, “Allow Lisa to reintroduce herself,” as they welcomed the global K-pop sensation to the iconic issue.
