PESHAWAR:

Bushra Bibi, wife of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, has stated she has no intention of entering politics.

"I have no intention of joining politics. I am here solely to convey Imran Khan's message," she stated during her first-ever public address at a PTI gathering.

She lamented the challenges in relaying Imran Khan's political directives to party workers, reiterating his call for complete readiness ahead of the upcoming protest. "Imran Khan's message is clear: come out fully prepared on November 24," she added.

Expressing concerns over her possible arrest before the protest, she said, "I fear being detained before November 24. However, I have no intention of leading the party, Imran Khan remains the party's sole leader".

In keeping with her usual attire, Bushra Bibi addressed the gathering while veiled. As part of security protocols, participants were instructed to turn off their mobile phones during her speech.

The clarification follows media reports alleging that the former first lady had issued directives to PTI leadership nationwide and summoned a meeting of party leaders later in the evening.

Speculation about Bushra Bibi's possible entry into active politics intensified after her release on bail last month in a new Toshakhana case concerning the alleged illegal sale of expensive state gifts.

Meanwhile, the National Accountability Bureau urged the Islamabad High Court a day earlier to overturn the convictions of the PTI founder and his wife in the first Toshakhana reference.
