ATC gives clean chit to MNA, sons in murder case

Family of slain journalist to move SHC, apex court against verdict

MNA Khalid Loond

HYDERABAD:

The police inquiry has vindicated MNA Khalid Loond and his two sons from the charges of conspiring to kill journalist Nasrullah Gadani who was shot at and seriously injured on May 21 in Ghotki district and after three days he died in a hospital in Karachi.

In this regard, SSP Tanveer Tunio conducted inquiry and submitted his report along with the final police challan before the Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) in Ghotki on Friday.

The report stated that the MNA and his sons Noor Muhammad Loond and Shahbaz Loond, who have been blamed by the Gadani family for planning the deadly attack, were not involved in the incident. The report, however, has charged Asghar Loond, Barkat Loond and Abdullah Loond in addition to a new name, Barkat Latki.

Talking to the media outside the court, Gadani's brother said they did not expect an impartial inquiry from SSP Tunio who always appeared partisan in favour of the Pakistan Peoples Party's MNA. He said if needed, they will challenge the police inquiry in the SHC and the apex court. He went on to allege that he received a threat by the accused to withdraw from the case around two weeks ago. The hearing was adjourned to November 29.
