Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidates won two out of four seats in the by-elections for the local bodies in Hyderabad on Thursday.
Pakistan Peoples Party's candidates won the other two seats.
The by-polls were conducted for the seats of chairman and vice chairman of Union Committees 51, 125 and 140 in addition to a ward councillor seat in UC-46 of the Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (HMC).
Both the seats of chairman in UC-125 and UC-140 went to the PPP's candidates. Istahsan Barkat won UC-125 seat bagging 310 votes while Zulfiqar Janwari got 658 votes to win UC-140 chairman slot.
The PTI supported Adnan Rashid Rajput was polled 1,086 votes in UC-51 for the seat of vice chairman. The PPP's Muhammad Farhan Rajput trailed behind him with 889 votes.
The PTI backed Haris Ahmed secured 281 votes to win ward number one of UC-46, defeating Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan's Muhammad Aalam Ghouri who received 73 votes. The HMC's mayor Kashif Ali Shoro also belongs to the PPP which has a majority of 113 UCs in the house of 160 UCs, represented by the chairmen.
The PPP's candidate Syed Safdar Shah won Town Committee Matiari district's ward number 7 with 469 votes while Jamaat-e-Ulema-Islam-Fazl's Ghulam Rasool Memon was polled 426 votes.
On the seat of UC-4 Chairman in Municipal Corporation Nawabshah, the PPP's Manzoor Gujjar was given 3,416 votes to win the constituency with a huge margin. The party's Mir Muhammad Jamali received over 3,000 votes in UC Ghandtarh of the district council Nawabshah while his opponent from JUI-F, Habibullah Jamali, managed to get 300 votes.
The PPP's Jamal Keerio and Sharif Magsi also emerged successful on two LG seats in Sakrand taluka of Nawabshah. The JUI-F's candidate Asadullah Soomro was polled 3,775 votes to win UC Muhammadabagh in Rustam area of Sukkur district. His opponent from the PPP, Sajjad Soomro, received on 856 votes.
