Pakistani skipper Babar Azam came to teammate Shaheen Afridi’s aid after a thumb injury left the star pacer visibly distressed during Pakistan's third ODI against Australia in Perth.

The incident, that began to be circulated widely on social media, highlighted the bond between the two.

The injury occurred during Australia’s innings when Afridi attempted to intercept a throw from deep midwicket. The ball struck his thumb, leaving him in clear discomfort. Babar, noticing Afridi’s pain, instinctively attempted to soothe him by adjusting the injured thumb until the team physio arrived to administer treatment.

Afridi’s injury took place during the 26th over when Australian batsman Sean Abbott struck the ball towards deep midwicket and attempted a single. In an effort to prevent the run, Afridi was struck on the thumb as he blocked the throw aimed at the non-striker's end.

Despite the injury, Afridi managed an impressive performance, taking three wickets for 32 runs in his 8.5 overs, demonstrating his resilience.

Moreover, Pakistan comfortably chased down the 141-run target set by Australia to win the third ODI, coming from behind to claim victory in the series.

This marks the Green Shirts' first series win on Australian soil since 2002.

Earlier Pakistan's pacers limited Australia to 140 runs. The Green Shirts are coming from behind poised to win their first ODI series victory on Austrlian soil since 2002.

Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah took three wickets each. Meanwhile Haris Rauf took 2 wickets, and Mohammad Hasnain took one wicket.

Austrlia's top-scorer Sean Abbott 30 (41) and Adam Zampa 13 (22) offered some late resistance. Spencer Johson 12 (12) remained not out.

Earlier, Pakistan's captain Mohammad Rizwan won the toss and decided to field first, stating that they wanted to win the match and the series to make the tour memorable.
