Dhoni to lead side for the fourth successive year.

Express September 12, 2011

KARACHI: Pakistan fast-bowler Umar Gul has been named in the International Cricket Council (ICC) One-Day International (ODI) team of the year in which India’s MS Dhoni has been chosen as the captain.

Dhoni, who led India to World Cup glory earlier this year as his side became the first team to lift the trophy on home soil, is the first player to be named captain for the fourth successive time.

Gul, who has spearheaded Pakistan’s bowling attack in recent months, is the only player from the country to find his name in the elite side that features four Indians, three Sri Lankans and two South Africans besides a player each from Australia and England.

Team: MS Dhoni, Yuvraj Singh, Virender Sehwag, Zaheer Khan, Tilkaratne Dilshan, Kumar Sangakkara, AB de Villiers, Dale Steyn, Shane Watson, Graeme Swann, Umar Gul, Lasith Malinga (12th man)
