Mahira Khan honoured with achievement award in UK Parliament

Pakistani actress Mahira Khan has been honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the UK Parliament, recognising her significant contributions to women's empowerment and her work as a cultural ambassador.

The award was presented in a ceremony at the House of Commons, with support from British parliamentarians and other distinguished guests.

The event was hosted by Afzal Khan MP and attended by prominent figures including Dr. Sarah Naeem, the Pakistani High Commissioner, Atta Haq, Chairman of the Labour Asians Society, Shafiq Shahzad, Minister for Trade and Investment, and Manish Tiwari, co-chair of the Labour Asians Society.

The ceremony was also graced by a host of public figures, reflecting the broad support for Mahira Khan's work.

The actress shared her success with her fans through an Instagram story on the photo and video-sharing platform.

Upon receiving the award, an emotional Mahira Khan took to the stage to express her gratitude and reflect on the significance of women’s empowerment in her career.

Mahira Khan also shared the personal significance of her journey, noting that she was the first woman in her family to travel abroad alone. She studied at Santa Monica College and later at the University of Southern California (USC), an experience she credits with helping her develop independence and strength.

In an emotional address after the ceremony, the actress thanked her family, including her parents, brother, and son, for their unwavering support throughout her career.

Speaking to the media after the ceremony, Mahira Khan expressed that receiving the award was a matter of honour and pride.

She also drew attention to the fact that, aside from herself, many other artists from the Pakistani industry also deserve such recognition.
