Patti Morrissey, founder and CEO of Global Foresight Strategies, has responded to backlash following an alleged confrontation with Annetta Catchings, a Black Trump supporter, at Tatte Bakery & Café in Washington, D.C.
A video of the incident, shared by Catchings, a former mayoral candidate in Alexandria, Virginia, quickly went viral, sparking debate on social media. In the video, Morrissey is seen engaging in a heated exchange with Catchings, who claims Morrissey verbally confronted her multiple times, allegedly calling her “uneducated” and challenging her political views.

What happened next was 3 separate attacks from this stranger! Her friend had to hold her back. I was called uneducated as she proceeded to give me her resumé.#Unhinged pic.twitter.com/q1jRO5yUNs
Catchings later posted a follow-up video, stating that Morrissey returned for a third confrontation after being reseated and claimed that café staff did not intervene. In her posts, Catchings implied the confrontation was politically motivated and urged Tatte Café to “do better.”
She was given the benefit of the doubt and reseated. She came back and got in my face a 3rd time and was never asked to leave the restaurant! #Tatte Cafe and Bakery

The video circulated widely online, with users on X (formerly Twitter) questioning Morrissey’s identity. By Sunday, social media users identified Morrissey as the founder of Global Foresight Strategies, a consultancy reportedly linked to various U.S. Congressional departments. Morrissey’s firm was established in 2022, and her profile lists prior affiliations with the U.S. Congress, Department of Defense, and Department of State.

In response, Morrissey posted a statement on social media offering her perspective on the incident. Morrissey explained that she had overheard a group discussing former President Trump’s recent comments on former Congresswoman Liz Cheney and remarked, “Maybe because he’s a criminal?” Morrissey stated that this prompted a reaction from Catchings, who allegedly called her a “white liberal” and questioned her political affiliation.
According to Morrissey, the exchange escalated, with Catchings’ group allegedly recording Morrissey and her sister, who was visiting. Morrissey further alleged that the group’s actions were aimed at portraying her as the aggressor. She expressed surprise at how quickly the video and her identity were shared online. Morrissey stated, “I’m not sure how they found my social media because they did not have my name,” and referred to the incident as “really sick,” expressing concern over what she described as “cultish behavior.”
