You can get handcuffed, if you drive a car with tinted windows. Yes, you heard it right! This is what happened in the metropolis. Not only did the police handcuff errant drivers but also publicised their photos, triggering outrage in social circles.
The pictures of drivers in handcuffs were released by the spokesperson for District Central police who said that the arrests were made during a district-wide campaign for the enforcement of traffic laws, especially against the use of tinted windows and fancy license plates.
No doubt, the use of tinted glass in cars is illegal and can get you stopped and penalised by police. Social activists, however, say that compliance with rules is mandatory for everyone, but publicizing photos of violators in handcuffs is not inappropriate. According to them, violation of the law against tinted glass or fancy number plates doesn't make the violators habitual offenders or dangerous criminals.
Gabol police seized the motorcycle of Muhammad Iqbal, son of Talib Hussain, for using a fancy number plate and registered a case against him. Shahrah-e-Noor Jahan police detained three men, identified as Ali Farhan, Shehryar, and Asif, for using fancy licence plates and seized their motorcycles and also registered cases against them. Similar actions were also taken by police in Liaquatabad, FB Industrial Area, New Karachi Industrial Area, and Bilal Colony. The photos of the violators in handcuffs were then publicly released by the police.
