ISLAMABAD:

Islamabad district administration has intensified its crackdown on agents outside the Islamabad Excise Office, arresting eight individuals for alleged unauthorised dealings.

The accused were handed over to the police by Industrial Area assistant commissioner (AC) and a case was registered. Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon called on citizens to avoid using unauthorised agents and visit the excise office directly for official matters, saying that additional service counters are now available for their convenience.

Islamabad Excise and Taxation Director Bilal Azam confirmed ongoing daily actions against the so-called "agent mafia," with clear directives from the deputy commissioner to ensure hassle-free public services.

To further ease access, the excise department has rolled out door-to-door registration, and mobile vans now offer vehicle registration and transfer services at Islamabad parks.

Azam also highlighted efforts to speed up service within the office, where the registration and transfer process now takes only 10-15 minutes. Proper seating arrangements have been provided, and all fees are clearly noted on receipts to prevent overcharging.

For citizens unable to visit the office, the department offers special services. The elderly, sick, special persons, and women can arrange vehicle registration via a call to the excise office's call centre.
