On October 29, Lil Durk’s son Zayden Banks posted on Instagram to voice his support for his father, who is currently in federal custody facing murder-for-hire charges. The rapper stands accused of placing a bounty on the life of Chicago rapper Quando Rondo.
While sharing a video of Chicago mayor Brandon Johnson showing support for Lil Durk, Zayden expressed his desire to defend his father, whose legal name is Durk Devontay Banks.
He highlighted Durk’s dedication to his community, particularly through his non-profit, Neighborhood Heroes. Zayden added: “Beyond that, he is a great father who has always supported and loved our family unconditionally. Right now, he is facing challenges, but I want to affirm that he has not been convicted of any charges and remains innocent until proven otherwise. During this difficult time, I ask for your support for him and all the good he continues to do.”
Zayden also thanked the Chicago mayor, noting that his speech was “well put together and truly reflects the community’s support for those who strive to make a positive impact.”
Lil Durk is a father to six children—Angelo, Bella, Du’mier, Skyler, Willow, and Zayden—with five different women. Zayden’s mother is not publicly known as of this writing. Born in 2013, Zayden’s parents are presumed to no longer be together.
According to an affidavit filed in federal court and based on FBI agent Sarah Corcoran’s testimony, Lil Durk allegedly placed a bounty on Quando Rondo’s life, as reported by CBS News. Five of Durk’s co-suspects, all of whom have been apprehended, reportedly bought flight tickets to carry out the murder-for-hire scheme.
Billboard reported that Durk and his Only The Family (OTF) associates—Kavon London Grant, Deandre Dontrell Wilson, Keith Jones, David Brian Lindsey, and Asa Houston—are accused of using a credit card linked to OTF to buy flight tickets and reserve hotel rooms in their attempt to kill Rondo.
