ISLAMABAD:

An ATC in Islamabad on Monday rejected police request for 30-day physical remand and sent 86 accused, who allegedly tried to escape from a police van last week, to jail on judicial remand.

The accused were presented in the court of ATC Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra on completion of the two-day remand. The prosecution requested for more physical remand. However, the judge asked the prosecution as to why it needed more remand.

On that the prosecutor informed the court that the police needed the remand for further investigation. The judge disagreed, saying that two-day remand had already been given. The 86 accused included two members of the K-P Assembly, belonging to the PTI.
