Shah Latif Investigation Police have apprehended a fugitive who recently escaped from Malir Jail, catching him injured in a Punjab operation. The suspect sustained a fractured leg while climbing the prison wall.

A team from Shah Latif Town Police Station's investigation unit conducted the raid in Dera Ghazi Khan, Punjab, on Friday and captured the escaped prisoner.

Inspector Zakirullah, the investigation in-charge at Shah Latif Town Police Station, stated that a team of four officers, including the SIO, traveled to Punjab based on a tip-off. With Punjab Police’s assistance, they successfully arrested the suspect.

He added that they have received confirmation of the arrest, but further details will be provided once the suspect arrives in Karachi.

The apprehended prisoner was initially arrested two years ago by the SITE Superhighway Police on charges of kidnapping and assault.

On October 20, he managed to escape from Malir Jail by cutting through the window in the bathroom of Barrack No. 5 in Circle No. 1 and scaling the prison wall.

Following orders from senior officials, a case (FIR No. 24/1350) was registered at Shah Latif Town Police Station against eight prison officials, including the assistant superintendent and duty officer, under charges of negligence.

Seven of these officers have been arrested.

The case was filed by Deputy Superintendent of Malir Jail, Zulfiqar Ali Pirzada.
