Saudi Arabia condemns Israeli strikes on Iran, calls it a sovereignty violation
Saudi Arabia condemned Israel’s latest military strikes on Iran on Saturday, describing them as a “violation of Iranian sovereignty” and a breach of international law.
In a statement, the Saudi Foreign Ministry expressed its “condemnation and denunciation” of the early-morning attacks, calling them a “serious violation” of Iran’s territorial integrity and a contradiction of international norms.
The Kingdom reiterated its firm opposition to the continued escalation of regional conflicts, warning that the spread of violence endangers the security and stability of the region and its people.
Saudi Arabia urged all parties to exercise “maximum restraint” and to take active steps toward reducing tensions, cautioning of the potential fallout from continued military confrontations.
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Qatar joined the call for de-escalation, with both nations emphasising diplomacy as the path forward. The UAE Foreign Ministry also advocated for restraint, stressing that reducing tensions was crucial for regional stability.
The Syrian Foreign Ministry also expressed solidarity with Iran, asserting Iran’s right to defend its territory and citizens.
Hamas strongly condemned Israeli airstrikes against Iran saying ,"We see this as a blatant violation of Iranian sovereignty and an escalation that endangers regional security and the well-being of its people, holding the occupation fully accountable for the consequences of this aggression, backed by the United States of America."
Egypt’s Foreign Ministry voiced serious concern over Israel’s actions, condemning any measures that threaten Middle Eastern security and stability.
The statements come after Israel launched airstrikes on Iranian military sites early Saturday, claiming they were a response to Tehran’s prior missile attack on Israel.
Residents in Tehran reported multiple explosions during the night, with state-run media initially attributing the blasts to air defence systems.At least seven loud explosions shook the area, a Tehran resident said.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) announced that three waves of targeted strikes were completed, achieving their mission objectives.
Hours later, the Israeli military warned that Iran would face consequences if it escalated the conflict further.
