News of Lil Durk’s arrest on federal conspiracy charges has stirred intense reactions across the hip-hop community.
According to an affidavit from FBI agent Sarah Corcoran and supporting court records cited by the Associated Press, the Chicago rapper allegedly attempted to flee to Italy before his arrest. The affidavit details that after five alleged members of his Only the Family (OTF) crew were arrested in Chicago, Lil Durk reportedly booked two flights from South Florida to Switzerland and Dubai, along with a private flight to Italy, allegedly to avoid apprehension.
Federal authorities ultimately intercepted Lil Durk before he could board his flight to Italy. However, the reasons behind the bookings to Switzerland and Dubai remain unclear. U.S. Marshals apprehended him in Florida on Friday, October 25, charging him with conspiracy for allegedly arranging a hit on fellow rapper Quando Rondo, purportedly in response to the 2020 murder of Durk's friend, King Von. The incident reportedly led to the death of Rondo’s cousin, Lul Pab, during a shooting in 2022. Authorities allege the rapper coordinated travel and finances for OTF affiliates, supporting their journey from Chicago to Los Angeles, where the attack occurred.
In an alleged text exchange uncovered by prosecutors, Durk reportedly advised, “Don’t book no flights under no names involved wit me,” indicating an attempt to prevent traceable travel patterns. Further complicating matters, sources suggest that an OTF affiliate may have cooperated with federal authorities, providing information on the alleged conspiracy through a wire. As more details emerge, fans and critics alike continue to follow the unfolding case for additional developments.
