Sri Lanka ‘A’ defeated Pakistan Shaheens by seven wickets in the first semifinal of the ACC Men’s T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup, securing a spot in the final.
The match took place at the Oman Cricket Academy Ground in Muscat on Friday, where Pakistan, choosing to bat first, struggled to build momentum and posted a modest total of 135/9 in their 20 overs.
Omair Bin Yousuf led Pakistan’s batting with a solid 68 off 46 balls, displaying resilience at the crease. However, with limited support from teammates—Haider Ali (14), Mohammad Imran Jnr (13), and Arafat Minhas (10)—the side was unable to reach a competitive score.
Sri Lanka ‘A’ bowlers kept a firm grip on the game, with Dushan Hemantha taking a standout 4/21 in his four-over spell, while Eshan Malinga and Nipun Ransika contributed with two wickets each.
In response, Sri Lanka ‘A’ chased down the target of 136 comfortably in the 17th over, losing just three wickets.
Opening batter Lahiru Udara made an explosive start with a quick 43 off 20 balls, smashing two fours and four sixes. Ahan Wickramasinghe anchored the innings with an unbeaten 52 off 46 balls, guiding his side to victory with composure.
The second semi-final, featuring Afghanistan ‘A’ and India ‘A’, will decide Sri Lanka’s opponent for the final on Sunday, October 27.
