Mel Gibson has expressed his support for Donald Trump while taking aim at Vice President Kamala Harris.
In a brief interview published by TMZ, the Oscar-winning actor and director criticized Harris, stating, "She’s got the IQ of a fence post," and added, "I know what it’ll be like if we let her in. And that ain’t good." The comments came as Gibson was speaking to a cameraman at an airport, where he also confirmed his support for Trump, saying, "I don’t think it’s going to surprise anyone who I vote for."
Gibson, who gained fame through films like Braveheart and The Passion of the Christ, has not been a frequent political commentator in recent years. However, his endorsement of Trump aligns with past behavior, including saluting the former president at a UFC event in 2021. Earlier this year, Trump shared a meme featuring Gibson on his social media platform Truth Social, praising the actor and stating, "Either way, Mel Gibson is GREAT!"
Despite his continued work in Hollywood, Gibson has faced controversies in the past. He largely exited the industry after a 2006 DUI arrest and subsequent anti-Semitic remarks. In 2010, further racist comments were leaked, including slurs directed at his then-girlfriend, Oksana Grigorieva, who also accused him of physical abuse.
