Anna Kendrick recently opened up about the emotional toll of her seven-year abusive relationship, revealing details during an episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast on October 23, 2024.

The Pitch Perfect actress admitted that it took her years to recognize the abuse, as it didn’t follow traditional patterns. Kendrick explained that her anonymous ex made her believe she was the problem, leading her to turn her life "upside down" trying to fix herself.

The Oscar-nominated actress, 39, shared how couples therapy did little to help, as the therapist often sided with her ex, leaving Kendrick feeling unsupported. Reflecting on the relationship, Kendrick revealed that her ex was convinced he was a victim, even accusing her of "terrorizing" him during an argument. This manipulation led her to believe she was at fault, causing deep self-shaming.

Kendrick, who previously dated cinematographer Ben Richardson and actor Bill Hader, now has firm boundaries when it comes to relationships. "I am never getting involved with a man unless you are in or have been in therapy," she declared.
