A notice has been issued to the superintendent of Adiala Jail, where the founding Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader is incarcerated, in response to a contempt of court petition regarding the denial of a meeting with Imran Khan.

According to Express News, despite the court order, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued a notice to the jail superintendent for tomorrow in response to a contempt of court petition for not allowing a meeting with the ex-PM in jail.

During today's hearing led by Justice Sardar Ijaz Ishaq Khan, PTI's legal counsel Salman Akram Raja and Faisal Chaudhry appeared in court.

The legal team contended that even the lawyers are not being allowed to meet the jailed PTI chief.

The court inquired whether there had been any contact with the local commission, to which the lawyer responded that they had been reporting to the local commission, but no contact has been established yet.

The court remarked that the purpose of forming the commission was precisely to avoid such issues.

The lawyer informed the court that there had been no electricity for several days, and they were not even allowed to step out into the corridor.

In response, the court instructed them to file a separate petition.

Subsequently, the court issued a notice to the jail superintendent and directed the appointment of a representative, ordering that the representative appear in court tomorrow.

The hearing was adjourned until October 24 (tomorrow).

Authorities deny allegations of mistreatment

Earlier, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan expressed concerns over Imran Khan's living conditions, stating that the former prime minister had been without electricity for five days and was deprived of access to TV and newspapers for two weeks, leaving him unaware of recent constitutional amendments.

However, authorities dismissed the circulating social media reports and political discussions about Imran Khan's alleged mistreatment as "baseless." They emphasized that all legal requirements regarding his detention are being met.

In response to the allegations from PTI leaders, Adiala Jail authorities confirmed that Imran Khan is being provided all amenities under B-Class jail rules. They also noted that a professional cook prepares his meals, offering a variety of dishes according to his preferences.

The authorities reiterated that the reports of mistreatment are unfounded and reaffirmed that Imran Khan's detention complies fully with legal standards.
