The body discovered in a metal trunk at the Site Area Metroville Shaheed Cemetery has been identified as Shazia Abdul Waheed, a resident of Liaquatabad and mother of five.
She was employed at a private factory in the Godhra Camp area. According to family members, the post-mortem examination revealed that Shazia was brutally tortured before being strangled to death. The family is now demanding justice for her tragic and untimely demise.
A woman's body was found wrapped in a sheet, with her hands and feet tied and her mouth taped, in a trunk at Shaheed Cemetery in the early hours of Monday. Police rushed to the scene upon receiving the information, summoned the crime scene unit, and collected evidence.
The body was later transferred to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for post-mortem. Site SHO Chaudhry Javed Akhtar stated that the body had been brought to the cemetery for disposal after the murder took place elsewhere, but the suspects abandoned their plan. The victim, believed to be between 40 to 45 years old, could not initially be identified.
Police used the Talash application to confirm her identity. Through this process, the victim was identified as Shazia Abdul Waheed, a resident of Liaquatabad No. 7, who had recently moved from Yousuf Goth with her family.
At Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH), Shazia's husband told the media that she had left for work at 11am on Monday but did not return by her usual time of 9pm, prompting a desperate search. "We have no known enemies, and Shazia never expressed any concerns or suspicions," he said.
