Anurag Basu wants Aamir Khan on board for his upcoming film, a Kishore Kumar biopic. According to Pinkvilla, the topic has been a subject of discussion between the duo, and Aamir is enthusiastic about joining. "The Kishore Kumar biopic is a subject close to the hearts of Anurag Basu and Bhushan Kumar, and they are looking to bring it to the spectacle in the best possible way," a source informed Pinkvilla.
"Aamir is also a big admirer of Kishore Kumar and loved the vision that Basu has to bring the life of legend to the spectacle. The filmmaker has treated it very differently, and that's what has fascinated Aamir the most," further revealed the source, which is close to the development process of the project.
With hits like Yeh Sham Mastani and Mere Sapnon Ki Rani to his name, Kishore is a treasured icon in the world of Bollywood, and is a celebrated singer and actor even over three decades after his demise. To revive a persona like this on the big screen, filmmakers must employ measures that will bode well with audiences, especially those driven by nostalgic attachment.
It is no wonder why living legend Aamir has been hand-picked for the role. From a compassionate teacher to a vengeful lover to a lost alien, Aamir has played all that can pop in one's mind. The 59-year-old actor has even taken on a biopic before, slipping into the headstrong role of wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat with ease.
After wrapping up Sitaare Zameen Par, the spiritual sequel to the beloved Taare Zameen Par, Aamir is looking forward to a wealth of projects. As reported by Pinkvilla, the actor has six upcoming films stacked up, all under varying phases of development.
"While the scripts of Kishore Kumar biopic, Ujjwal Nikam biopic, and Rajkumar Santoshi's comedy are locked, Ghajini 2, Lokesh Kanagaraj's next, and Zoya Akhtar's next are in the development stage," shared the source. "Aamir has liked all the films and will take a call on his next by the end of this year."
