Tom Holland, known for his role as Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is in discussions to join Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film.
If negotiations are successful, Holland will star alongside Matt Damon in the top-secret project, which Nolan is both writing and directing. Universal Pictures is set to release the film in theaters on July 17, 2026.
Universal has not yet confirmed Holland's casting. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the project is expected to begin filming in early 2025. However, Holland’s commitments to “Spider-Man 4” and a potential Avengers sequel could complicate the production timeline. Holland has also recently appeared in a West End adaptation of "Romeo & Juliet" with Francesca Amewudah-Rivers.
This will be Nolan’s second collaboration with Universal Pictures following the success of his historical drama "Oppenheimer." That film, which grossed $975 million worldwide and won seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture, marked Nolan’s departure from Warner Bros. after a nearly 20-year partnership.
As with many of Nolan’s films, this new project is likely to attract a host of Hollywood A-listers, with Damon and Holland already in talks to join the cast.
