Anticipation for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is building as the game's release approaches, set for this Friday, 26 October.
With the open betas concluded and trailers rolling out rapidly, players can expect a thrilling spy adventure after a four-year wait. Developed by Treyarch and Raven Software, Black Ops 6 promises a bombastic campaign—“which we're in dire need of after Modern Warfare 3's disastrous story”—the fastest movement in CoD multiplayer history, and the return of classic round-based Zombies.
Activision is known for revealing extensive details about its upcoming titles, and Black Ops 6 is no exception. However, the wealth of information can be overwhelming. To ease the burden, we've gathered everything you need to know about Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, including its release date, trailers, campaign details, multiplayer features, and even Zombies.
Release Date
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 launches on Friday, 26 October, on Steam, the Microsoft Store, and Battle.net, priced at $79.99/£69.99. The Vault Edition, which includes bonus items and the Blackcell Season 1 battle pass, will retail for $109.99/£99.99. The standard edition will also be available on Xbox Game Pass from launch for PC. However, some sources indicate that discounts in the UK could bring the price down to £53.99.
New Characters
Alongside the returning Frank Woods, several new faces will join the franchise. Woods' protégé, Troy Marshall, is described by Activision as "a methodical leader, driven by a strong moral compass." Other new characters include Jane Harrow, a CIA handler, and two agents: Felix Neumann, a technical genius, and Sevati Dumas, a mysterious assassin. Fans may also be both excited and apprehensive about the return of the infamous Russell Adler.
Campaign
The Black Ops 6 Campaign offers dynamic gameplay featuring a variety of play spaces, complete with blockbuster set pieces, action-packed moments, high-stakes heists, and cloak-and-dagger spy activities.
Multiplayer
In Black Ops 6 Multiplayer, players can test their skills across 16 new maps at launch, comprising 12 core 6v6 maps and 4 Strike maps that can be played in either 2v2 or 6v6 formats. Additionally, a more traditional Prestige system makes a comeback, now bigger and more rewarding than ever before.
Similar to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, dialogue choices in the campaign will have consequences. Throughout the campaign, players will be prompted to select paths that ultimately affect the story's conclusion. Black Ops 6 also includes era-specific tasks, such as lock-picking and computer hacking, that will further influence outcomes.
Fans can look forward to brand-new items alongside returning favourites in campaign mode. These include the RC-XD (Remote-Controlled Explosive Device), the Tranquilizer Trap, the Adrenaline Stim, the Homing Knife, and the Disruptor, among others.
