Viral footage of dog atop 455-ft Great Pyramid of Giza takes internet by storm

A dog that made headlines this week after being spotted at the top of the Great Pyramid of Giza has now been seen casually descending the ancient landmark. The astonishing moment was caught on camera, showing the pup racing down the 481-foot pyramid, navigating the massive limestone blocks with ease.

The footage, filmed by tour guide Lauren Rathvon on Wednesday, quickly went viral. The video shows a cream-coloured dog roaming the pyramid’s peak, barking at birds flying overhead. 

The dog's appearance at the top of the pyramid was first discovered by paramotorist Alex Lang, who was flying over the iconic structure on October 14. Lang zoomed in on the dog strolling atop the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the World, capturing both the dog's antics and his own reaction as he flew around the pyramid.

The video has since garnered over 85 million views. One viewer commented, “What a brave dog. I hope the man parachuting is going to rescue him.” Another user marvelled at the pyramid’s construction, saying, “A dog or a cat can make it up there on its own, but I can’t imagine how the people who built it managed to get higher and higher.”

A follow-up video shows the dog effortlessly climbing down the Great Pyramid. An amused user on X (formerly Twitter) wrote, “Looks like that dog has more energy than most of us! Climbing the Great Pyramid of Giza for the view… someone get this pup a medal!” 

The dog’s unexpected adventure has captivated viewers worldwide, leaving many in awe of its fearless feat.
