LAHORE:

Child Protection and Welfare Bureau (CPWB) Chairperson Sarah Ahmed and Inspector General of Punjab Police Dr Usman Anwar have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for improving the timely sharing of information in cases involving child abuse, exploitation and trafficking.

It also calls for joint crackdowns by the CPWB and the police against organised rings of beggars exploiting children. Key provisions of the agreement include the appointment of focal persons in all districts to handle FIRs in child-related criminal cases and the prompt transfer of abandoned newborns to the bureau.

Both organisations pledged to take coordinated measures to prevent child exploitation, abuse and violence.

In addition to enforcement, training sessions will be organised to improve the skills of staff from both the police and the CPWB.
