Pakistani twin sisters Manisha Ali and Maliha Ali have made the country proud on the international stage, winning gold and bronze medals at the 6th Asian Taekwondo Championship in Indonesia.
The sisters, students at Lahore Garrison University, delivered exceptional performances. Manisha Ali secured the gold medal in the over 73kg category, showcasing her outstanding skills.
Earlier, Maliha Ali, representing Pakistan in the 73kg category, won a bronze medal.
The sisters, hailing from Hunza in Gilgit-Baltistan, are currently studying at Lahore Garrison University under a special programme.
A 16-member Pakistani taekwondo squad is in Tangerang, Indonesia, to compete in the 6th Asian Open Kyorugi Taekwondo Championship, taking place from 15 to 18 October at the Indore Stadium Sports Center.
The event is featuring over 275 athletes from across Asia, including competitors from India, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, the Philippines, Malaysia, Nepal, and host Indonesia.
Among the men representing Pakistan are Haroon Khan (-58 kg), Numan Khan (-63 kg), Saud Alam (-63 kg), Muhammad Arbaz Khan (-68 kg), Mazhar Abbas (-80 kg), Ikhtsham-ul-Haq (-87 kg), and Hamza Omar Saeed (+87 kg). In the women’s team, Noor Rahman (-57 kg), Maleeha Ali (-73 kg), and Manisha Ali (+73 kg) competed.
The team is led by Lieutenant Colonel Zeeshan Aslam, with Master Yusuf Karami as the head coach. Syed Sadaqat Hussain serves as the team manager, while Faisal Nadeem Butt is the physio.
