Pakistan’s Senate has approved a bill to establish special courts for resolving property disputes of overseas Pakistanis. The bill, presented by Chaudhry Salik Hussain, mandates that these courts settle cases within 90 days.
During the session, chaired by Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani, a prayer was offered for the victims of recent terrorist attacks in Duki and Kurram Agency.
Senator Ali Zafar of PTI raised concerns, stating that some members did not attend the session due to fears of being abducted.
BNP Senator Naseema Ehsan, overcome with emotion, left the session in tears after discussing personal grievances.
Senator Kamran Murtaza claimed that her son had been abducted for political reasons and warned that he might resign if the situation continued.
Senator Sherry Rehman presented a resolution praising the successful hosting of the SCO Summit, which was approved by the Senate, despite opposition from PTI.
Senator Irfan Siddiqui also condemned the siege of Akhtar Mengal’s residence, expressing gratitude to PTI for withdrawing their protest call.
The session adjourned until Friday afternoon, with Deputy Chairman suggesting that Naseema Ehsan could raise her concerns privately in chambers.
