Two electronic billboards in Northbrook, a Chicago suburb, were reportedly hacked on Wednesday to display offensive and anti-Israel messages, falsely attributed to YouTube star MrBeast.
The billboards showcased a Palestinian flag and hostile phrases, including “F*CK ISRAEL” and “DEATH TO ISRAEL,” alongside a statement claiming, “Paid for by MrBeast LLC.” Commuters first noticed the messages around 5:30 pm CT, according to Fox32 Chicago.
OUTFRONT Media, the company responsible for the billboards, quickly shut them down after being informed of the hack. Local officials condemned the incident as antisemitic. The Northbrook Village Board issued a statement expressing solidarity with the Jewish community, emphasizing the town's inclusive values.
MrBeast's representatives confirmed that he had no involvement with the billboards, stating they had contacted attorneys and authorities to ensure the advertisements were removed. Congressman Brad Schneider (D-Illinois) also denounced the hack, calling the display "disgusting" and asserting it has no place in the 10th District or anywhere in America.
Northbrook Police are currently investigating the incident, though no further information has been released.
