Donald Trump has strongly criticized the newly released biopic The Apprentice, directed by Ali Abbasi, labeling it a "politically disgusting hatchet job" and accusing the filmmakers of trying to damage his 2024 presidential campaign.
The film, which depicts Trump’s rise in New York City real estate under the mentorship of controversial lawyer Roy Cohn, includes controversial scenes such as Trump's alleged mistreatment of his first wife, Ivana Trump.
Trump took to Truth Social, calling the movie "fake and defamatory" while accusing its creators of election interference.
Director Ali Abbasi responded by offering to discuss the film with Trump, maintaining that it explores Trump's complex rise rather than vilifying him. The film, which premiered at Cannes, has faced backlash and legal threats from Trump's team.
