Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser revealed that Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has appealed for the postponement of PTI’s planned protest on October 15, in light of the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Qaiser confirmed that he had a telephone conversation with Rehman, during which they discussed the postponement of the protest in Islamabad and deliberated on proposed constitutional amendments.
Qaiser shared that Rehman had called for the postponement of the protest due to the SCO summit, and also demanded that PTI founder Imran Khan be provided with proper medical care and access to his personal doctor.
Additionally, the two leaders held detailed talks regarding a constitutional draft presented by JUI-F, with Qaiser noting that there was significant agreement on most points between the two parties.
Qaiser further announced that a joint meeting between both parties will be held on October 17 to finalise the draft of proposed constitutional amendments. He assured Rehman that he would present JUI-F’s suggestions to his party for consultation and communicate PTI’s decision following internal discussions.
