Mishi Khan blasts Dr Zakir Naik for derogatory remarks on women, PIA

Actress Mishi Khan has expressed her outrage over the controversial remarks made by Islamic scholar Dr Zakir Naik during his recent visit to Pakistan.

The actress took to Instagram to share a video where she condemned Naik's comments about the national airline and his critical views on Pakistan.

Mishi pointed out the irony of Naik being treated as a state guest while making derogatory remarks.

“Zakir Naik, who was a state guest, has returned home. Just as Javed Akhtar spoke ill of Pakistan after visiting India, Naik is also disparaging our national airline,” she said in her video.

In a biting critique, Mishi Khan addressed Naik's comments on the weight of luggage he was allowed to carry.

“What were you bringing that weighed a thousand kilograms? If you were allowed to take 500 kilograms, does being a state guest mean you should take advantage of the situation and carry everything for free?” she questioned.

Mishi further expressed her disappointment over Naik's comments regarding women, stating, “I am deeply saddened that you use such language about women. You should be guiding men instead. Fear God and choose your words carefully.”

The actress also urged the government to reconsider the guest list for state visitors.

“Why invite people like Zakir Naik and Javed Akhtar, who enjoy Pakistan’s hospitality only to speak negatively about it later? If India is so good, then stay there. Do we not have any self-respect?” she asked, highlighting her frustration over the perceived lack of respect for Pakistan's dignity.

Dr Zakir Naik's remarks about women and marriage spark backlash

Dr Zakir Naik's remarks about unmarried women have sparked backlash from several Pakistanis including prominent celebrities.

The Islamic preacher, during his visit to Pakistan, had claimed, "There is no way an unmarried woman can be respected. So, they have two options. First, get married to a man who already has a wife, or she will become a 'bazaari aurat'—public property. I don't have a better word. Any respectable woman would opt for the first option."

In response, numerous celebrities have taken to social media and other platforms to express their disapproval, calling for a 'more inclusive' and 'tolerant interpretation' of Islam.
