Wendy’s employee fatally stabbed by customer in Hawaii

Incident reportedly occurred after Reynaldo Cheney, 60, was asked to stop moving tables inside the restaurant

A Wendy’s employee, Kashka Otto, 22, was fatally stabbed by a customer, Reynaldo Cheney, 60, during a dispute at the fast-food restaurant in Nānākuli, Honolulu,  Hawaii, United States.

The incident reportedly occurred after Cheney was asked to stop moving tables inside the restaurant, leading to a heated argument.

According to the Honolulu Star-Advertiser, the altercation escalated when Cheney directed a derogatory remark at Otto, who responded by punching him. Cheney then allegedly retaliated by stabbing Otto.

Cheney was already facing an outstanding warrant for illegal camping and was arrested on suspicion of first-degree attempted murder, second-degree murder, and second-degree attempted murder.

His bail has been set at $1 million, and the Honolulu Police Department (HPD) is investigating the case as a homicide.

Otto's colleague, Sophie Tabag, described him as a friendly individual who always greeted customers with a smile. “He was really great. He was a great person,” she said.

The altercation also left another Wendy’s employee, 44, seriously injured, but they were treated and later released from the hospital.

Witnesses indicated that Cheney had been living in a tent near the beach for several years. As of now, officials have not released further details about Otto's death.
