Nintendo has officially revealed its latest piece of hardware, and it’s not a new gaming console but a unique motion-controlled alarm clock called Alarmo. Priced at $99.99, the device will be available in early 2025, with early access for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers.

Alarmo is designed to respond to users' movements, making it possible to snooze the alarm with a simple gesture or stop it by getting out of bed. The gadget features advanced technology, including a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi radio and a 24GHz mmWave sensor that detects motion, offering a modern twist on traditional alarm clocks.

One of the most exciting features of Alarmo is its immersive soundscapes. Nintendo fans will appreciate that the alarm sounds are inspired by popular Switch games, including The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Pikmin 4, Splatoon 3, Super Mario Odyssey, and Ring Fit Adventure. In total, 35 different audio "scenes" are available, with additional sounds from Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Mario Kart 8 arriving later as free updates through the Nintendo account.

Beyond its sound features, Alarmo offers sleep tracking, allowing users to monitor their movement during sleep and adjust settings based on their preferences. The device includes Steady Mode, where the alarm grows more intense the longer you stay in bed, and Gentle Mode, which maintains a consistent intensity. For those who prefer a traditional setup, Button Mode allows for a tactile snooze button experience. Additionally, Alarmo has "sleepy sounds" to help users wind down with soothing audio before bedtime.

The announcement comes as Nintendo shifts focus from its gaming consoles to lifestyle products. With the release of The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom last month, potentially the last major game for the Switch, and the opening of the Nintendo Museum in Kyoto, the company continues to innovate outside the traditional gaming space.

Nintendo fans can expect Alarmo to make waves in early 2025, offering a blend of nostalgia, practicality, and cutting-edge technology.
