Influencer Jack Doherty has been permanently banned from streaming platform Kick after crashing his McLaren while live on a Kick stream. Doherty, 21, lost control of the vehicle while reading chat messages on his phone, colliding with a guardrail. Although Doherty was unharmed, his cameraman sustained minor injuries, which were visible in the livestream footage. Doherty continued broadcasting after the crash, showing the damage to the car and his surroundings.

Kick, a platform known for its relaxed moderation policies and high-profit sharing ratios, faced immediate backlash following the incident. In response, a Kick spokesperson told NBC, "The platform does not condone illegal activity, which is why we swiftly took action to ban this creator from the platform." Doherty, who has a controversial history on both YouTube and Kick, is also facing legal action in an unrelated case of assault and battery.

Kick, already under scrutiny for previous incidents involving streamers, has made recent efforts to address concerns about inappropriate behavior. Following the controversy at TwitchCon, where some Kick streamers were filmed harassing other creators, Kick CEO Ed Craven tweeted that multiple accounts had been suspended. Craven emphasized, "The actions of a few individuals don’t reflect the broader platform," and noted that the platform is "continuously working on reviewing policy" to prevent such issues in the future.
