QUETTA:

A groundbreaking initiative launched in Balochistan aims to empower women and girls by addressing critical hygiene and sanitation issues.

The "She Power" initiative, supported by the Chinese government, aims to improve the health, quality of life, and educational opportunities for young women in the province.

Speaking at a high-level event to distribute hygiene kits, Romina Khurshid Alam, Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Climate Change, emphasised the close link between women's socioeconomic empowerment and access to adequate hygiene facilities.

She highlighted that addressing hygiene challenges can directly impact women's education, work, and leadership opportunities, fostering healthier and more equitable communities.

The initiative, part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, aims to distribute 20,000 hygiene kits to schoolgirls in four districts of Balochistan. These kits contain essential hygiene products, educational materials, and promote better health practices among young girls.
