Interior minister pledges justice after Chinese nationals killed in Karachi attack

Mohsin Naqvi assures safety of Chinese nationals, calling the attack a threat to Pakistan-China friendship

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad on Monday to express his condolences over the deaths of two Chinese nationals in a bomb blast near Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport. 

During the meeting, Naqvi extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and assured the ambassador of Pakistan’s solidarity with the Chinese government and people. He also provided a detailed briefing on the incident and the progress of the ongoing investigation.

"We stand united with the Chinese government and the bereaved families in this difficult time," Naqvi stated, emphasizing that the entire Pakistani nation shares in the grief of their Chinese brothers.

He vowed a comprehensive investigation, pledging that those responsible for this heinous attack would be brought to justice. Naqvi condemned the incident as an intolerable attempt to undermine the longstanding Pakistan-China friendship, calling it a cowardly conspiracy.

He reiterated that such acts would not succeed and affirmed that the safety of Chinese citizens working for Pakistan’s development remains a top priority. "This was not just an attack on Chinese nationals, but an attack on Pakistan itself," Naqvi declared, promising a strong response against the perpetrators.

China has called for a thorough investigation following the attack, which occurred on Sunday night, targeting a convoy carrying staff from the Port Qasim Electric Power Company, leaving two dead and several others injured, including a third Chinese citizen.

The Chinese embassy in Pakistan condemned the attack and expressed deep condolences to the victims, while both countries are coordinating efforts to manage the aftermath of the tragedy.
