CTP launches licencing initiative

Establishes dedicated counter for tractor-trolley and tanker drivers

RAWALPINDI:

The Rawalpindi City Traffic Police (CTP) has designated a dedicated counter at the licensing centre for tractor-trolley and tanker drivers.

Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Beenish Fatima has launched an initiative to ensure tractor-trolley and tanker drivers receive proper licensing and training. Circle in-charges have been instructed to send these drivers to the nearest licensing centre. The goal is to not only provide licenses but also educate drivers on road safety and responsible driving practices. Tractor and tanker drivers themselves can get learners' licenses from any licensing centre of the City Traffic Police.

To support this effort, Licensing DSP and the Licensing In-charge have been directed to offer all necessary facilities to learner drivers. After the required period of training on a learner's license, learners will be eligible to acquire a tractor-trolley and tanker driver's license.

In a recent crackdown on traffic violators, the City Traffic Police issued a total of 2,652 challan tickets. Helmet violations accounted for 453 tickets, while 486 drivers were penalised for driving without a license.

Additionally, 196 tickets were issued for lane and line violations, 178 for wrong parking and 91 for disregarding traffic signals. Other notable infractions included 96 tickets for lacking route permits, 73 for expired or missing fitness certificates, 43 for underage driving and 33 for operating smoke-emitting vehicles.
