Rapper and social media star DDG announced his separation from actress and singer Halle Bailey in a statement posted to his Instagram Stories on October 3. The couple, who began dating in January 2022, welcomed their son, Halo, in late 2023. DDG, born Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., stated, "After much reflection and heartfelt conversations, Halle and I have decided to go our separate ways. The decision was not easy, but we believe it's the best path forward for both of us."
Despite the end of their romantic relationship, DDG emphasized that he and Bailey remain close. "Our love for each other remains deep and true. We are still best friends and adore each other," he wrote. Moving for
ward, the two will focus on co-parenting their son and their individual journeys, as DDG noted, "We cherish the bond we've built and the beautiful moments we've shared."
DDG also asked for privacy and support during this time, writing, "Thank you for your love and encouragement." Bailey, who starred in The Little Mermaid, has not publicly commented on the split as of the time of publication.
The couple’s relationship became public in early 2022, with Bailey revealing her feelings for DDG in a September 2022 Essence interview. She described being inspired by him as one of the young Black creators she followed on YouTube before they eventually connected.
