Govt gears up for key CPEC moment

The planning ministry urged all the relevant ministries on Wednesday to finalise their preparations and proposals for the successful implementation of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects to ensure an impactful outcome from the upcoming visit of Chinese Premier Li Qiang later this month.

Premier Li is expected to visit Pakistan on the occasion of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit to be hosted by Pakistan this month. Ahead of the Summit, the planning ministry held a high-level review meeting on the CPEC projects, said a ministry press release.

Chaired by Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, the meeting brought together senior officials from all the relevant ministries, reflecting a unified and collaborative approach towards enhancing the bilateral relationship with China.

In anticipation of the forthcoming visit by the Chinese premier, the discussions centred on amplifying cross-sectoral cooperation and preparing a comprehensive action plan aimed at advancing bilateral economic and developmental goals.
