Former SHO City Jaranwala who was sentenced to six months in jail for unlawfully detaining a citizen, managed to escape from police custody.
Additional and Sessions Judge Jardanwala Azhar Iqbal Ranjha had ordered to send an FIR to the in-charge investigation after getting arrest SHO City Jaranwala Inspector Zahid Pahlwan for wrongfully detaining a citizen.
Inspector Pahlwan appeared in court and was subsequently sentenced to six months in jail. However, in a shocking turn of events, the SHO managed to escape from the court, accompanied by his gunman, despite the court approving the surety bond submitted by him.
The SHO had arrested the accused despite being granted bail, prompting the individual's family members to file a writ petition under Section 491 of PPC.
Meanwhile, police got the physical remand for three more days of four personnel, including a civilian arrested in the case of arresting two citizens during a fake raid and extorting Rs.3.3 million from them. Apart from the arrested ASI Police Station FIA, Mudassir, Constable, Ghulam Shabbir and Constable Ali Faraz and Muhammad Ahmad were produced in the court and obtained another three days of physical remand.
The arrested suspects reportedly arrested two citizens Shahzeb and Luqman during a fake raid in Sahiwal and took more than Rs0.3.3 million as extortion money from their accounts. They were arrested after a case was registered in the FIA police station. After arresting the accused, a four-day physical remand was obtained. Last day, SHO Police Station FIA, Shehryar Razzaq produced the accused in the court and obtained another three days physical remand and started the process of investigation.
Additionally, the time table for locking up the accused in the district jail was released. A circular was issued by the Deputy Superintendent Judicial District Jail for Faisalabad police officers and investigating officers.
It was stated that under Pakistan Prison Rules 1978 Imprisonment can be done, while from 1st April to 30th September at 5 pm in the jail. The accused who come late after the appointed time will not be imprisoned in the jail.
