ISLAMABAD:

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif warmly welcomed Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Wednesday as he commenced a three-day official visit to Pakistan, as reported by the Associated Press of Pakistan.

Upon arrival at the airport, children dressed in traditional attire presented bouquets to the Malaysian Premier, who was honoured with a static guard of honour while a 21-gun salute echoed in the background as a gesture of warm welcome.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, along with members of the federal cabinet, were also present to greet the visiting dignitary. Accompanied by a high-level delegation, Premier Ibrahim will hold discussions with Pakistan's leadership during his stay.

This official visit, at the invitation of PM Shehbaz, aims to explore a wide-ranging agenda to strengthen Pakistan-Malaysia ties across various sectors, including trade, connectivity, energy, agriculture, the halal industry, tourism, cultural exchanges, and people-to-people contacts.

The two leaders will also address regional and global developments. The Foreign Office noted in an earlier press release, “Pakistan and Malaysia enjoy strong bilateral ties anchored in history, culture, and faith. This visit presents a vital opportunity to further enhance Pakistan-Malaysia relations.”
