Meta Platforms announced on Tuesday its plans to expand production of mixed reality headsets in Vietnam, marking a significant step in the company's investment in artificial intelligence (AI) innovation within the country. The company aims to begin manufacturing its latest mixed reality device, the Quest 3S, in Vietnam starting in 2025.

This move follows a recent visit by Meta's president for global affairs, Nick Clegg, to Vietnam. Clegg's trip comes just a week after he met with Vietnamese President To Lam in New York to discuss Meta's growing presence in the region.

"Beginning in 2025, Meta will expand manufacturing of its latest mixed reality device, Quest 3S, to Vietnam," Clegg said in a statement.

While Meta did not disclose the size of its investment or the scale of its current operations in Vietnam, Clegg emphasized the importance of the country to Meta’s overall strategy.

With tens of millions of Facebook users in Vietnam, Meta continues to play a crucial role in supporting both small businesses and consumers across the nation.

In addition to expanding its hardware manufacturing, Meta also announced plans to advance AI technology in Vietnam. The company will begin testing Meta AI in Vietnamese soon, with full integration planned by the end of the year. This follows the launch of Business AI for Messenger testing in Vietnam earlier in June.

Vietnam remains a key market for Meta, with a rapidly growing digital economy and millions of users relying on its platforms for both personal and business purposes.
