PESHAWAR:

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur stated that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's mandate has been stolen. "We have faced injustice, and we have been targeted for political revenge; however, we have not retaliated against any government officials," he asserted.

The chief minister expressed these views during a meeting with a representative delegation from the Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors on Friday. Also present were the Chief Minister's Advisor for Information and Public Relations, Barrister Dr Muhammad Ali Saif, Secretary of Information Arshad Khan, and Director General of Information and Public Relations Muhammad Imran.

The CM said his party wanted to move forward, putting aside everything for the sake of the nation and the country.

He continued that despite receiving relief from the courts, PTI and its leaders were not being granted relief. He alleged that serious human rights violations were occurring, and the nation was becoming a spectacle on the international stage. "It seems that no one cares," he bemoaned.

"Those who have illegally taken items from the Toshakhana are currently in power, while someone who legally received a watch from the same place has been imprisoned."

He added that when people speak out or raise questions on such matters, they are labeled as irresponsible. "We do not speak for ourselves or for our positions, but for the sake of the country and the nation. We cannot remain silent by compromising on such issues. We are free and we want real freedom and genuine democracy."

He said that Pakistani society was at the crossroad where it was time to decide whether to enslave the nation or to take the freedom for which ancestors sacrificed their lives. Gandapur highlighted that compromising on these matters is a betrayal to the nation and future generations.

"I am not in favor of an independent Pashtunistan; Pakistan is our everything, and we have to fix this country. I will not support any narrative that threatens the country's security."

The CM stated that as the fourth pillar of the state, media and journalists, have heavy responsibilities, and there is room for reform in every individual and sector. He hoped that the media would fulfill its responsibilities in a better manner.
