Tensions between Camila Cabello and Sabrina Carpenter appear to be ongoing, as Cabello seemingly threw shade at Carpenter during her iHeartRadio Music Festival performance. While singing her hit song "Señorita," a collaboration with ex-boyfriend Shawn Mendes, Cabello skipped the word "taste" in the line, “You say we’re just friends / But friends don’t know the way you taste,” and instead covered her lips with her finger, giving the audience a side-eye glance. This move raised eyebrows, particularly because Sabrina Carpenter had just released a music video for her own song "Taste," which has garnered over 74.5 million views on YouTube.
Camila and Sabrina are rumored to have had friction due to their romantic history with Mendes. Camila dated Shawn from 2019 to 2021, and while the couple briefly rekindled their relationship in 2023, rumors of Shawn dating Sabrina Carpenter circulated during their split.
This is not the first time Camila has been perceived as shading Sabrina. Earlier this year, Cabello posted a TikTok video singing lyrics from her song "June Gloom," which is believed to reference Carpenter. The lyrics include the line, "She’s cool, I heard / Won’t act surprised, I saw the pictures."
As of now, Shawn Mendes is not romantically involved with either singer, and while both Camila and Sabrina are successful in their careers, a friendship between the two appears unlikely.
