The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday disposed of multiple petitions after the government confirmed that the names of PTI's former chief minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, his son Rasikh Elahi, and daughter-in-law Zahra Elahi had been removed from the Passport Control List (PCL).
Justice Shams Mehmood Mirza presided over the hearing, which involved pleas requesting contempt proceedings against authorities who had failed to comply with a prior court order to remove the names from the list.
The petitions, initially filed by Pervaiz Elahi and his family members, had named the federation of Pakistan, the Ministry of Interior, and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) as respondents.
The former CM argued that his family's names had been unjustly placed on the PCL, preventing them from traveling to Saudi Arabia for Umrah.
He contended that the placement of their names on the list was an arbitrary act of political victimization. Despite the court's earlier directive, the names had not been removed, leading the petitioners to file contempt petitions.
The law officer informed the court that the names had now been removed, prompting Justice Shams to dispose of the case.
