Two police officials were injured when muggers hit them with the butts of their handguns on Superhighway near M-9 Motorway within the remits of Gadap City police station on Tuesday.

Malik Saleem, SHO Gadap City police station, said that 50-year-old Sub Inspector Shahzad, and 22-year-old Constable Zakir were riding on a motorcycle to the police station when three armed muggers on two motorbikes stopped them near Quetta Darbar Hotel in Dumba Goth.

"They hit the police officials with pistol butts, snatched cash, mobile phones, and two 9mm official pistols and fled," he added. "The injured police officials were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment." Police registered a case and started a manhunt for the muggers.

In a separate incident, motorcycle-riding robbers shot and injured a 38-year-old car dealer, identified as Muhammadul Zaman Durrani, during a robbery in Federal B Area Block 17. Police arrested the two robbers with the help of the public and recovered arms and a motorcycle, said SHO Gulberg police station Faisal Rafiq. He further stated that since the crime scene falls within the limits of Samanabad police station, the suspects have been handed in the custody of SHO Hidayat Hussain of Samanabad.
